Character Boutique $$$

Location

Built in 2002, the Tamarind Village was the first ‘Lanna style’ boutique hotel of its kind in Chiang Mai. Architect Ong-Ard Satrabhandhu chose the site of an empty lot on historic Rachdamnoen Rd with views onto the 700 year old Wat Umong temple to construct the hotel. Situated at the heart of the old city of Chiang Mai, Tamarind Village’s strong sense of place and identity reflects its northern Thai setting and the simple beauty of the local Lanna culture. Surrounded by ancient temples and historic sites, the hotel’s architecture clearly draws on the past for inspiration while interpreting traditional forms and design with a fresh, contemporary twist.
