Khao Lak is an area of exceptional natural beauty; untainted white beaches, cascading waterfalls, spectacular primary forest, tranquil lagoons and thriving wildlife. Khao Lak National Park is home to some of the oldest primary forest in the world and is easily accessible.
The historic old township of Takuapa is the nearest main urban centre and was formerly the most important town on the west coast due to previous vast tin repositories and mining in the area. The old town retains much evidence of its historic importance including several old teak houses and the Governor's residence. Khao Lak is accessed by an hours scenic drive from Phuket Airport.
