In the east of Cappadocia lies the city of Kayseri, recognised as Caesarea in Roman times. Located 20 kilometres from the city centre, the KuĢltepe Mound is the most notable example of this heritage, dating back 6000 years.
KuĢltepe was an important trading centre during the 2nd millennium BC, and excavations have unearthed essential artefacts from the Bronze Age, the Assyrian trading colonies and the Hittite era.
