Antalya

Türkiye - Mediterranean Turkey

Antalya founded in 158-138 BC by Attalus II, King of Pergamon, named the city Attaleia after himself.

Continuously inhabited since that time, Antalya was initially encircled by strong protective walls in Roman times, then the Byzantines and Seljuks occupied the city before it came under Ottoman rule.
