Topas Ecolodge is surrounded by the dramatic scenery of Tonkinese Alps with mountain peaks and lush valleys filled with rice, corn, and wheat. It is situated within the boundaries of Lao Cai province’s Hoang Lien National Park, which encompasses an area of 30 km2 and stretches all the way south from just outside of Sapa town.

WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

The individual stone-built lodges have been built by local craftsmen using in the main local materials. Each lodge uses solar technology for all the accommodation and hot water requirements as well as implementing a wastewater facility to avoid polluting the local area. The 4 different room categories are minimal and functional but their main selling point is that each has a private balcony with magnificent views and some have private plunge pools! The 2 restaurants serve local, Vietnamese and western fare.

That there is plenty to do from the lodge, including gentle walks that visit the local school and black smith as well as observing the local agricultural traditions and that they put back into the community by employing locals and sourcing all their produce locally, make Topas Ecolodge our favourite accommodation in this fascinating region.
